Canadian is approximately 100 miles from Amarillo, 200 miles from Oklahoma City, 220 miles from Lubbock, and 330 miles from Ft. Worth. The City of Canadian is located along the Canadian River Valley in the northeast portion of the Texas Panhandle along US Highway 60. Canadian is the County seat of Hemphill County and is known as the “Oasis of the High Plains”. While much of the Panhandle region is generally flat and devoted to ranching and agriculture, Canadian's topography is unique. The area has mesas, hills, and beautiful foliage that attracts visitors from across Texas during the fall season.

Canadian has many outdoor activity areas for enjoyment. Two of the more popular choices are the golf course and swimming pool.

Swimming Pool

Closed every Monday (except free swim day)

Adult Swim for Laps & Exercise Only, Tuesday thru Sunday, 6 pm to 7 pm

Centennial Park

Centennial Park was funded through the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department. The park provides a variety of uses
including a walking trail, disc golf, and shaded picnic areas.

2nd Street Park

In 2018, Second Street Park was turned in to a volleyball park. Here, you will find a sanded volleyball court, a grill and picnic tables.

Jackson Park

Jackson Park was funded through the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department and already contains a variety of amenities like a playground, swing sets, grills, and walking trail. These amenities complement the nearby swimming pool and create a space where families can spend their day.

Skate Park

Skate Park Rules & Regulations

Violators will be required to leave the facility indefinitely.

1. The Skate Park is designed for skateboarding, in-line skating, and BMX biking only. Bikes with pegs are not allowed.

2. Children under the age of 10 are REQUIRED to wear a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards at all times. Safety equipment is strongly recommended for adults as well. Know your ability and skate/ride accordingly.

3. Inspect the surfaces before you ride them. Remove all trash, debris, and objects that may prevent a smooth, safe ride. Report any damage to skate park surface to City Hall at 806-323-6473.

4. No cursing. Please be courteous to other people using the facility and all other park patrons.

5. Alcohol, tobacco products, and drugs are strictly prohibited.

6. No littering. No glass containers in Skate Park area. No loud music.

7. Graffiti in Skate Park is illegal and will not be tolerated.

8. This is your park. Have fun and take care of it.

Skateboarding, in-line skating and BMX biking are hazardous recreational activities. Use of this facility may result in paralysis, brain damage, broken bones, and other serious injury, or even death. Any use is at your own risk. The City of Canadian does not assume any responsibility for injuries.

Sunset Park

Sunset Park is one of Canadian's newest parks and is in excellent condition. It has multiple amenities like a walking trail, art display, and basketball court.
